Our Sustainability Journey
Gemstones
As much as possible, we source colored gemstones and diamonds (mined and lab-grown) that are certified by reputable organizations such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and the International Gemological Institute (IGI). We can also send individual stones for certification upon request.
Repairs
Our repair service aims to reduce the need to purchase new jewelry by extending the life of existing pieces and minimizing waste. We not only repair our clients’ jewelry, but we also repair pieces from other designers when possible. This service supports a more circular economy by keeping jewelry in use for as long as possible.

Jewelry Recycling and Redesign
Through this service, we transform or modify our clients' existing jewelry to extend its life. This significantly reduces the environmental footprint by reducing or eliminating the need to source new metals such as silver or gold. Clients can bring heirloom, sentimental, or broken pieces to be redesigned into contemporary jewelry, preserving their emotional value while giving them a fresh new look.

Packaging
All our boxes are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) to ensure the pulp and paper used do not contribute to deforestation, a leading driver of climate change and biodiversity loss. In some cases, we include small ziplock plastic bags for clients to store jewelry and prevent oxidation. These bags are meant to be re-used by our clients to keep humidity and dust away, helping to keep their jewelry (particularly sterling silver) tarnish-free.
Shipping
For local deliveries in Mexico City, we exclusively use motorcycles, which emit fewer emissions than larger vehicles.
Production Practices
Local Production
All our pieces are handmade in Mexico City. We do not import mass-produced jewelry from factories abroad, where we have no control over the conditions in which they were produced. This helps reduce our environmental and social footprint and aligns with our value of supporting Mexican craftmanship.
For more than a decade, we have worked in partnership with a family of skilled Mexican artisans who produce all our pieces by hand. Our talented team is at the core of our business and is paid above market average, which aligns with our ambition to keep Mexican craftsmanship and jewelry-making traditions alive and thriving. We regularly connect, learn from each other, and offer mutual support.
Limited stock
All our pieces are made by hand in Mexico City once we have received the client’s payment. In some cases we hold small amounts of stock, available for immediate purchase. Slow jewelry production prevents excess stock and ensures our team’s time is valued. By avoiding mass production, we also eliminate the need for stock clearance sales, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and fair pricing.
Continuous Learning & Evolving
We recognize that there is much to be done to improve sustainability practices in our industry. As technologies and the market evolve, so will our sustainability journey.
Our team regularly participates in and hosts industry events, webinars, and discussions to deepen our understanding of sustainability challenges and opportunities in the jewelry industry. Our Founder regularly delivers lectures to students at various universities, encouraging students to integrate sustainability practices in the process of developing their own brands or businesses.
Our Track Record
PAAR was selected as part of the 2020 BBVA Momentum Accelerator cohort. This program supported 100 Mexican entrepreneurs leading businesses that address social and environmental challenges.
